It’s always the case between the old and the young. The old feel we (being the younger ones) shouldn’t let the comforts of our current life get to our head, that we, shouldn’t be too happy as life is sometimes… actually screw sometimes, let’s just leave it as life can be a bitch as if a woman who suffers from some compulsive disorder that makes her spontaneously PMS.
The old feel that the young has so many things to be grateful for, that they should be able to look beyond the horizons for what’s ahead and keep planning as they chug along this journey called life. The old perhaps fail to realize the times have changed, screw the cliché that police used to wear shorts in the past, ERP never even existed, so do the high taxes we have to pay.
So as the nation looks back on the past 44 years of independence, I say it’s time the young get up and take notice, listen… so should the old, if they won’t hurt themselves whilst doing so. I think, what our elders are trying to tell us is go ahead, explore; the worlds is yours to hold, to challenge, to search for greener pastures.
But to say go and never come back would be tantamount to having it our way or having the cake and eating it. Life just doesn’t work that way. So, be the good filial kid, don’t forget the old ones when you’re away.
Don’t worry though, I don’t think they’ll be making themselves scarce as that fly on the wall. At least, not for my parents… =P
