Would i want to have pets? i don't think so. I really don't think so.
Point is, i feel that pets are really high maintenance. For instance, i got to talk to my cousin and i found out that a visit to the vet costs anywhere from a few hundred to a thousand. Depending, definitely on the procedure that needs to be done, or the remedy thats given. Also, the food that you'd need to purchase, the toys? sure, you could say there are pets that require a significantly lower level of maintenance, ei. a fish. there's still the need for you to show them the attention, ie. feeding them or taking them out for walks or changing the water, cleaning the cage.
It's just a whole lot of heavy lifting, financially and in terms of time spent.
Plus, i don't know why, but i just feel that animals are never meant to be as pets. I'm sure you'd know by now, whenever a human being takes an animal as a pet or as a exhibit in an enclosure in the zoo, something bad's bound to happen. For instance i'm sure you've heard your own fairshare of dog attack stories and pet poison stories or the tiger incident at the singapore zoo. It's not natural to have an animal caged up or locked up 24/7, pardon the fish.
Think about the future too, when you grow up and are about to have kids, what's going to happen to that pet? simple, i guess, the obvious answer? SPCA!!
On top of that heap of push factors, add on the weather issue. I feel that as humans we already have trouble keeping ourselves cool from the heat, what about that poor thing covered in fur?!
You might think, i'm sounding more and more like a animal hater... I'm not. i don't hate them, i don't long for them, but i feel they are like us, "creatures" of god. With that said, i won't say don't have a pet but, be responsible.
Don't have a pet and leave it to someone else to do the heavy lifting; feeding them, taking them out for walks, etc. It was your choice... why is it then, that many pet owners leave the dog for the maids or the parents? If you don't have the time, the responsibility, DON'T HAVE A PET! Plus,
if you're not financially stable or wealthy, DON'T HAVE A PET... you're just going to let that little cute thing suffer...
Also, think about clearing up the pet's shit when you take them out for walks. how many of you are willing to carry newspapers or plastic bags to clear up your pet's poop?!
Perhaps, not willing but are ACTUALLY DOING IT?!?!With all that said, I understand why people have pets, they are just cute, cuddly and just something you're just very sure you want to offer it some LOVE... Think about coming home and having that dog of yours, with it's tail wagging like it's so happy that you've come home to him/her...
it just melts the heart...But, bottomline: i don't think i want to have a pet... really really don't think so...
Having said that, if you're a pet owner and are at the moment lovingly caring for that pet of yours, i hope you are the exception... and just keep loving that pet,
DON'T GIVE IT TO THE SPCA...
